HR and payroll for a construction workforce

From requisition to payslip to full-and-final — built for crews that move between sites. Attendance is geofenced and checked by the server, payroll computes PF, ESI, professional tax and TDS, and the statutory files come out ready for the government portals.

BuildCore's HR dashboard tiles for a construction workforce: 1,248 employees (1,196 active), 1,043 present today (87% attendance), 64 absent, 89 on leave, 17 approvals pending, 38 joiners and 21 exits in 30 days, payroll run PR-00018 approved, and queues for attendance exceptions, expenses, open positions, interviews, offers, training and grievances.

BuildCore's HR dashboard charts: AI HR alerts about joiners and exits; attendance over the last 30 days against the roll; manpower by department; joiners and exits by month; overtime hours; leave taken by type; net payroll by month in crore; and headcount by employee category.

Why it matters

Construction HR breaks spreadsheets

Hundreds of people, several sites, shifts that change weekly — and a payroll that has to be right every month.

Attendance nobody trusts

Proxy punches and remote check-ins make the attendance register — and the payroll built on it — hard to defend.

Statutory work done twice

PF, ESI, PT and TDS calculated in one place and filed from another is a monthly reconciliation job.

Exits that drag on

Full-and-final settlements held up by clearances and gratuity calculations cost goodwill and time.

Capabilities

What HR & Payroll does

Attendance, shifts and leave

  • Geofenced clock-in: the server recomputes the distance itself and flags suspected fake GPS
  • Network checks by IP allowlist, per site; a punch outside the fence is recorded as an exception to regularise
  • Shifts, rosters and rotations, regularisation, monthly sheets, timesheets and a period lock
  • Leave types, allocations, holiday calendar, block-lists, encashment, compensatory off and accrual

India payroll

  • Payroll runs created, computed, approved, posted and marked paid — regular, off-cycle and arrears — by pay group
  • PF with a configurable wage cap and the EPF, EPS and EDLI split; ESI; professional tax by state slab
  • TDS from an income-tax engine with the old and new regimes, the 87A rebate, surcharge with marginal relief, and cess
  • Payroll won't compute without statutory coverage; an attendance lock can be required; overtime paid from approved requests
  • Payslips, salary register, bank advice and a variance export

Statutory outputs

  • PF ECR file and ESI monthly contribution file
  • Form 24Q workings with Annexure II, prepared for the government's return utility, and Form 16 as a PDF
  • Gratuity in full-and-final — 15/26 × years, with eligibility and cap configurable — and a bonus register
  • Minimum-wage check and a contract labour (CLRA) register

The employee lifecycle

  • Recruitment: requisitions, job descriptions, candidates with duplicate detection, interviews, offers with an offer-letter PDF, pre-boarding and a careers portal
  • Onboarding, probation, transfer, promotion, increment, separation, clearance and full-and-final, with letters as PDFs
  • Training plans, a skills matrix, and certifications with expiry alerts
  • Expenses, advances, travel, and loans repaid through payroll; grievances; performance cycles
  • HR AI — summaries, résumé parsing, job-description matching and attrition risk — on a local model on your own server
How it works

A payroll run, from attendance to bank advice

1

Lock

Attendance for the period is locked, if you require it.

2

Compute

Earnings, overtime, PF, ESI, PT and TDS are calculated.

3

Check

Payroll refuses to run where statutory coverage is missing.

4

Approve

The run is reviewed and approved.

5

Post

Posted, with payslips and the salary register.

6

Pay

Bank advice issued; statutory files prepared.

Outputs

What comes out of it

  • PDF: payslips, offer letters, full-and-final statement, relieving, confirmation and experience letters, Form 16
  • Statutory files: PF ECR, ESI monthly contribution, Form 24Q workings
  • Registers and exports: salary register, bank advice, payroll variance, bonus register
Questions

HR / Payroll (HRMS) — common questions

Yes. PF with its wage cap and EPF/EPS/EDLI split, ESI, professional tax by state slab and TDS under the old and new regimes are computed in each run, and PF ECR, ESI, Form 24Q workings and Form 16 come out of the system.

BuildCore recomputes the distance on the server rather than trusting the phone, flags suspected fake GPS, and can check the network against a per-site IP allowlist.

Not today. Payroll is built for Indian statutory rules; other countries' payroll rules aren't included.

Only on a local model on your own server. HR AI won't fall back to a cloud provider, so employee data stays inside your environment.
